Children’s Computers

Currently unavailable

  • Two computers with pre-loaded children’s games are available to junior patrons
  • Headphones may be requested at the counter (limited to these machines)
  • Internet access is unavailable
  • There is no charge or membership requirement to use these computers

Library Computers

  • All machines have Microsoft Office Suite 2013
  • Patrons can use personal headphones
  • Information can be saved to a CD or Flash drive
  • Information cannot be saved to the workstation hard-drive or to an external hard-drive requiring its own power source
  • Files, e-mail, bookmarks, etc. created on the computer will be deleted by the computer automatically at the end of the session
  • Printing is available for a small fee.

Internet Policy

  • Patrons are not permitted to: Access sites or transmit materials that violate Canadian federal or provincial laws or City Bylaws and/or are defamatory, discriminatory or obscene; Send fraudulent, harassing or obscene email messages; or display overt sexual images. Those found in abuse of this section will have their Internet privileges suspended, may be barred from entering the library facility, and may be reported to the police.
  • Library members may use public computers by presenting their valid library cards
  • Non-members may use public computers by presenting a valid piece of ID
  • Parents or guardians of a library member under the age of 16 who do not wish for their child(ren) to have public computer access must make a formal request in writing to library management.
  • In special circumstances, parents or guardians of any member over the age of 18 may also make this request
  • In the event there is a waiting list for the computers, staff may not allow patrons to remain on for an additional time slot.
  • Assistance from library staff will be limited
  • Patrons violating the Internet Policy may have their privileges restricted or face fees in accordance with the Internet Policy and Library Code of Conduct.

Wireless Access

  • Wireless internet is available in the library facility
  • There is no charge, membership requirement, or time limit for this service
  • The library cannot guarantee anti-virus or firewall protection for this service, and accepts no responsibility for downloaded material that could damage personal machines

Laptop Use

  • The library is equipped with a number of internet connections
  • There is no charge or membership requirement for this service.
  • Time limits may be imposed by staff if there is a wait.
