What is the name of the program?
Evergreen is the name of the library software system that the Portage la Prairie Regional Library uses. Evergreen is an open source software system that allows patrons to find library materials and helps libraries to manage, catalogue and circulate those materials.
- Select Catalogue Search / My Account from the menu bar
- To Log in: Click on “My Account” at top right of the page
- In the “Log in to Your Account” space:
Library Card Number or Username: Type in the barcode from your library card in space indicated.
The default PIN or Password is the last 4 digits of your phone number.
Note: Usernames and Passwords are case sensitive
Please call the Library at 204-857-4271 to reset your password if you cannot log-in
Can I change my log-in information?
You can change Usernames and Passwords as often as you wish by accessing Account Preferences. If you forget your password after you change it, library staff will have to reset it for you.
Can I still use the catalogue if I don’t have a membership?
Guests can view and search our collection, but will need a membership to place holds.
How do I return to the website?
To return to the Home Page of our Website click on Library Home, located at the left of the page under the library logo.

Check Out History
Located under the Items Checked Out tab.
Allows the option to *keep history of library items loaned
*Note: History will not be kept unless this option is selected

Lists item request and status of those requests
Holds may be cancelled or suspended by selecting Actions for selected holds.
Suspending holds is practical when you are going away on vacation.
You may view your holds history if you have opted to keep a history of your holds.

Personal Information
Allows patrons to change: Username, PIN Number or Password and contact Email at any time.
Adding an email address in this section allows the library to send courtesy notices, overdue notices and reserved item notifications directly to one’s email account in lieu of a traditional telephone call.
Notification Preferences
Patrons can choose their preferred method of contact for holds that are ready for pickup. The options include phone, email and text.
Search and History Preferences
Select “Keep history of checked out items?” to keep a history of materials that have been previously checked out.
Select “Keep history of holds?” to keep a record of holds placed.
Note: History will not be kept unless these options are selected. To comply with privacy legislation, Library staff no longer have access to your previously checked out items.
- My Lists
Create a personal ‘wish list’ of books or books in series etc.
- Log Out
Ensure you log out to protect your account and private information, especially when using shared computers.
