Board
  • The library is operated as a separate entity by a Board of Directors that is appointed
    by the two funding municipalities:

    City of Portage la Prairie
    Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie


  • The municipalities each appoint two citizens and one council representative

  • It is the Board's responsibility to maintain a library service through the implementation
    of policies and submitting an annual budget report to the municipalities

  • The Board derives its power from the Province of Manitoba's Public Libraries Act

  • Implementation of Board policies is the duty of the library administration


Funding
  • Annual operating grants from:

    City of Portage la Prairie
    Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie
    Province of Manitoba


  • Province of Manitoba Collection Development Grant

  • Province of Manitoba Technology Grant

  • Income from library fees

  • Specific grants for special projects from Foundations and Government departments

  • Donations

  • In-memoriam donations
