Library CLOSED to the public until further notice. Scheduled Pick Up Service starts May 15th!

The Library will be CLOSED on Friday, May 22.
Pick Up Service will NOT be available on this day.

Manitoba Hydro will be working in the area and  will have to turn off power to the building between 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
Due to this planned power outage, the library will be completely closed all Friday.

We will hopefully be back to work this Saturday, May 23 and Pick Up service will resume.

Pick Up Service at the Portage la Prairie Regional Library
Starting Friday, May 15, will begin offering pick up service for library patrons.

While the library building will remain closed to the public for the foreseeable future.

We will allow patrons to take out library materials they have requested through the following means:
1) Contacting us by phone: 204-857-4271
2) Contacting us by email: portlib@portagelibrary.com
3) Placing a Hold on materials directly through the library catalogue:

Once a request has been placed, patrons will schedule a time to pick up their materials.
Scheduled times to pick up items will start at 10 AM and will end at 4 PM Tuesday to Saturday, and are available in 15 minute intervals.
If patrons are unable to pickup their materials during the time they are scheduled,
they will be required to contact the library to re-schedule a new pickup time.
Please note that all DVD rentals will be free to borrow while we are closed to the public.

All library materials signed out on and after May 15 will be due back on their regular due date.
These returned materials will be quarantined for 1 week before being allowed to be signed out again to patrons. All returns are to be made through the book drop, including DVDs and CD audiobooks, and the book drop does not require a key card to unlock.

Please note that overdue fines (except for materials signed out before the Library closed our facility in March)
and damaged/lost fees will still be assessed to patron accounts while we provide pickup service only.

Library Memberships
Can be renewed by phone or through email, and library staff can create temporary memberships for new patrons.
Non-resident membership fees, along with any fines and fees on patron accounts,
will not need to be paid until the library re-opens to the public.

While the Portage la Prairie Regional Library appreciates the desire to utilize our facility,
the first and foremost priority is the safety and well-being of everyone.
In the event the COVID-19 situation becomes worse in Manitoba, pickup service will be suspended indefinitely until conditions improve sufficiently to safely offer this service again.
